Empties Spring 2018

I've been saving some stuff up for quite a while and I'm so excited to share all of these products that I really used and loved with you guys! I love empties because it's a great way to give thoughts on products that you've really had some time to get to know. I'll be sharing some brief thoughts on each product and if I plan to repurchase. Starting with my favorite category....

Skincare:

Simple Micellar Cleansing Wipes: These are nice in a pinch, I of course prefer using a real cleanser but I enjoy having these on hand.

Quip Toothpaste: My absolute favorite toothpaste, I’m a huge fan of the subscription service, definitely recommend.

Skin Laundry Extra Deep Face Wash: His dirtied my skin out like crazy. Would not recommend. I much prefer Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser or the Krave Matcha Hemp Cleanser.

Pixi Glow Tonic: I prefer the AHA toner that I’m using now from Krave Beauty but this is a great afforadable, accessible option.

Sunday Riley CEO Rapid Flash Brightening Serum:  I definitely enjoyed this, I noticed a difference in the evenness and brightness of my skin, however I’m on the fence about repurchasing this one. Definitely hit me with your favorite vitamin c products!

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser: This cleanser ist very nice but I have more affordable cleansers that I like even better so I wouldn’t go out of my way to repurchase.

Differin Gel: My must have retinoid in my night routine. I have a whole post dedicated to my experience with this product and I would definitely not be without it.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser: My holy grail morning cleanse. So gentle. Smells great. Very effective.

Lush Eau Roma Water: Another must have! My absolute favorite hydrating/soothing mist.

Yew and Narra Rose Mist: This has big shoes to fill due to the intensity of my love for my Lush mist and while I don’t think this one has replaced my love for that one, I did think it was very nice. Thanks Yew and Narra for gifting this one to me!

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask:  This mask is supper nice for exfoliating and brightening and I think it would be perfect in fall because it has the most incredible pumpkin scent.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask: This is so nice for packing in extra hydration but I don’t know if I love it enough (and specifically love it more than my beloved Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask) to purchase to full size.

Youth to the People Kale and Spinash Green Tea Hyalauronic Acid Moisturizer: I’m really considering snagging the full size of this one. It’s so lightweight and hydrating and smells amazing.

Fresh Rose Face Mask: Another amazing hydrating product (noticing a theme?), beautiful rose scent, super spendy. This is not necessarily one I’m rushing to repurchase but I do enjoy it.

Lush 9 to 5 Cleansing Lotion: I used and loved this for years but I recently tried Lush’s ultrabland whichnis their more balmy oil based cleanser and I’m never going back.

Tula Advanced Neck Cream: This isn’t necessarily an essential step for me and I wouldn’t shell out for the full size but this lil guy came into my life at a time where I was actually experiencing extreme dryness in my neck and it was SO effective!

Glossier Priming Moisturizer: Unfortunately this broke me out pretty badly and there’s several ingredients in there that I find to be a bit questionable for break out prone skin so I personally wouldn’t recommend it if that’s you.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment: LOVE this lip balm! A definite repurchase!

Dr Brandt Microdermabrasion: I didn’t care for how menthol-y this product was

Lush Smugglers Soul Scrub (I apologize for how wrecked this packaging is): This is probably my favorite physical exfoliant ever conceived of and it is a crime against humanity that Lush is not bringing it back for fathers day this year WHY Lush why?!

Lush Smugglers Soul Multi-purpose Cream: I used this primarily as a hand cream and very much enjoyed it but that doesn’t matter because this isn’t coming back either! 😭

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreens Fluid: I actually only ended up using this on my legs in a pinch one day but I loved the consistency! So light and almost set to a powdery finish

Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Mask: I liked this but not as much as some other detoxifying face masks and I have lots of others on my to-try list so this is not a repurchase for me.

Lush Honey Trap Lip Balm: Love this product, don’t care for the packaging (I peeled off the label of this one because it was a lil too orange for comfort).

Yew and Narra Lavender Clay Mask: Despite being a clay mask this was extremely moisturizing, which makes sense when you see that there’s tons of super rich oils in here. I really enjoyed this though! I’d be interested to try more masks from them. Gifted.

Haircare:

Devacurl One Condition Delight: Holy Grail Conditioner

Devacurl Mist-er Right: This makes getting to day 3 or 4 with my curls without fully re-wetting and drying them my reality

Devacurl Ultra Defining Gel: This is my number one hair care product on this earth. Never crunchy, adds so much definition without reducing volume, prevents frizz.

Devacurl Light Defining Gel: This does not provide enough hold for my curls.

Devacurl Styling Cream: This doesn't really do anything for me? Like it wasn't bad, I just didn't notice much of a difference with it.

Lush R&B: This was a holy grail product for years but now that I've started wearing my hair shorter and switched mostly over to Deva products I think this is too heavy.

Makeup:

Nars Translucent Crystal Setting Powder: I like this powder a lot but unfortunately compared to the loose version/other loose powders its a really poor value for money.

Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer: Love this, provides great coverage, has SPF, great color match for me.

Dr. Jart Cicapair Color Correcting Treatment: Despite that I love the Nars tinted moisturizer, this is actually my holy grail light coverage base product. As Off Duty Diary describes it, it's literally like a instagram filter for real life. Looks like skin but provides such a nice radiance and evenness. The biggest draw back to this guy is it's not really an option for anyone with a medium/deep skin tone unfortunately.

Nars Smoothe and Protect Primer: I don't love this as a primer or as an SPF, it just feels a bit heavy on the skin and there's something about the texture that I just don't care for.

Smashbox Photofinish Primer: This is a classic primer for a reason and I really like it, don't love it enough to snag the full size though

Glossier Boy Brow in Brown: This is a holy grail, the only product I like using in my brows and I already have a new one going and another on back up.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer: This is another favorite! My go to concealer since high school. I love it for both blemishes and under eyes. Already repurchased.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheers Illumination Tinted Moisturizer: This was actually such a nice tinted moisturizer for the drugstore, it's less coverage than the Nars that I love but looked great on the skin and felt moisturizing. Unfortunately the lightest shade is a hair dark for me so for that reason I won't repurchase.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Primer: While this primer was very nice and effective at blurring pores, it had a strong citrus scent that irritated my skin and eyes so for that reason I won't be picking up the full size.

Makeup Forever Ultra-HD Foundation: Although I don't think I'd pick up a full size of this just because I like/want to try a lot of other foundations-- I was really glad to use this deluxe sample size that came in the allure beauty box because I remember really disliking this foundation and I actually loved it this time around! I'd definitely recommend it for a light foundation.

Tarte Tartiest Mascara: I don't support Tarte so I wouldn't pick up the full size of this but it was a nice mascara to use up.

Cle Cosmetics Essence Moonlighter Highlighter Cushion: This is absolutely stunning! It gives the most amazing glow to the skin. The only thing I don't like about it is that it comes in a cushion but it is just so stunning I'd still definitely say it's worth checking out.

Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Gel: Dr. Bronners is cheaper and more effective at cleaning my brushes so its a pass for me.

Body:

Lush Once Upon a Time Body Lotion: This was a Christmas exclusive from last year and the scent is called So White which is one of my favorite Lush scents! It's a really fresh, fruity apple scent. I bought like six pots of this during Christmas and obviously I won't be able to repurchase it until maybe Christmas next year but I'm loving it while I have it! The consistency of the lotion is the same as Sleepy lotion by Lush so a bit lighter but still really nourishing on the skin.

Yew and Narra Lavender Body Butter: This shizz is such a unique consistency and I loved it so much! I want to know what they do to this to make it so incredibly light but so nourishing. I'm definitely considering picking up a big pot of this after I use up the rest of my Once Upon a Time. Gifted by the brand.

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel: This I was able to snag when I worked for Lush for free and it's not my all time fav smell but it's also lovely. Another Christmas exclusive.

Lush Twilight Shower Gel: Another work perk, an absolute fav, will stock up next Christmas if it comes out.

Lush Rose Jam Shower Gel: Ditto Twilight

Commodity Rain: I ended up using this up as a room spray because it didn't agree with my body chemistry but it is nice.

Commodity Moss: This one I love, and it's definitely on my wishlist. Go give it a smell!

Thanks so much for reading these! I know this was a ton of stuff! Let me know how you guys like this format of empties or if you'd like to to move it to my IG story, or do fewer products or just any thoughts you have on these products or anything else! Have you finished up any good stuff recently? Any crappy stuff? I'd love to hear about it! Have a great day!
