September 2018 Favorites
September was kind of a rollercoaster of a month for me. My life is transitioning right now in some pretty major ways. This time of year, as summer fades away and is replaced by crisp air, chilly mornings, and stunning fall colored leaves, always makes me feel ready to take on whatever life throws at me and tackle some goals either new ones of ones I’ve been putting off. Keeping up on this blog is definitely one of those goals and I’m so excited to be back to posting and starting by sharing with you some stuff I’ve been absolutely loving this past month! Some are brand new to me and others are rediscovered favorites. Be sure to let me know either in the comments here or on my Instagram what you’ve been loving this month and how the summer to fall transition affects you!
May Lindstrom Problem Solver
This mask came into my life not too long ago but it has quickly become a favorite! I’ve had a couple of major breakouts this month and this has become so reliably effective for deeply cleansing and decongesting my skin. I definitely notice some purging initially after using this but give it some time and my skin is so much brighter, clearer, and smoother than before. Definitely my new HG detoxifying mask.
Nyx Vivd Brights Liners
Ive been having the best time experimenting with more editorial inspired/colorful makeup and these make it SO easy and they are SO affordable! They last all day and don’t irritate my sensitive eyes. Some of the colors, particularly the lighter ones, go on a bit patchy or just take a bit to work with but for the price and uniqueness of the colors I’d say it’s totally worth it. I’m planning to snag the rest of the range before halloween.
Pat Mcgrath Labs Lust: Lipgloss in Aliengelic
The shimmer in this gloss is actually out of this world. It comes off overall more pink than I was expecting but still SO shimmery and so glossy and just stunning. Incredibly comfortable feel on this lips. I want to pick up more asap.
Dry Bar x Too Faced Glitter Spritzer Sparkle Spray
Glitter hair spray, a total essential right? Ok, maybe not, but this is stunning. For special occasions or just days when I wanna feel a little bit extra like a fairy this is perfect. It somehow distributes the sparkle perfectly through my hair without looking like too much and it smells like cookies. A win.
Byredo Seven Veils
I picked this up at the Byredo flag ship in New York in August and the chillier the weather gets back here in Portland the more obsessed I am with reaching for it! It’s the perfect sweet, sort of deep fragrance without being overpowering or not appropriate for day time. I’ve been wearing it on repeat.
Krave Beauty Kale-lalu-AHA
Both of the Krave Beauty products are HG’s for me but I’d been rotating in some other acids so for most of the spring/summer this one was on a bit of the back burner of my skincare tray but no longer. I’m back to using this one nightly and I think I can confidently say this is my favorite AHA product I’ve ever tried. I love how hydrating it is without adding any heaviness to my overall night routine and how incredibly gentle it is while still delivering noticeable results. Also the packaging is adorable and green. Wins all around.
Jordan Samuel Hydrate Serum
Another long time staple that I’d taken a bit of a break from. I’m thinking I’m never doing that again though because this serum is pretty much perfect for me. Combining hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate the skin with Vitamin C and peptides this is the perfect all in one serum
LATHER Caviar Lime AHA Cleansing Creme
This cleanser is everything! It has become one of my favorite second cleanses I’ve ever tried! It’s so creamy but lathers up nicely and leaves my skin feeling plump and hydrated, never stripped, and looking so brightened and smoothed thanks to the gentle AHA! It’s really made me curious to try more products from this brand.
Essie Gel Couture Polish in Spiked With Style
The perfect wine nail color for fall, not too dark, not too bright, not too purple. Perfect. I’ve been wearing it pretty much all month.
Milk Makeup Blur and Set Matte Loose Setting Powder in Translucent Light
This powder is a new HG. It feels like nothing on the skin but smoothes, blurs, and mattifies it so well I actually don’t even understand it? And it doesn’t go orangey or too dark on my super fair skin which a lot of tinted translucent powders can tend to do. I also love the mesh sifter packaging and the fact that you get a ton of product.
Lush Cosmetics Enzymion
Yet another long time fav that I’ve rediscovered recently. This is my ideal day time moisturizer in the colder months (not always like the DEAD of winter, then usually I need something richer but for spring/fall it’s perfect). It keeps my skin hydrated all day and spf/makeup layer beautifully on top of it. It also smells amazing and brightens my skin using enzymatic fruit extracts.
